IN A FEW WORDS
My style
I have looked for a year before finding this place. I dreamed of an unusual space, with enough space for my works.
It was a real love at first sight for the architecture, an ancient factory and this vibrant neighborhood that I love.
In the matter of decoration I prefer black and white colors that give the priority to things around.
I like design and contemporary furniture like the one of BB Italia editors or Knoll. I have a real weakness for Silvera: I always buy something there. And for the lighting I choose almost exclusively at Artemide.
On my coffeetable there are scented candles like those from Compagnie de Provence that make me think of Marseille where I used to live. And magazines, I’m crazy about the press! Since I was 20, I have been having my daily ritual: I start my day with a newspaper and a coffee.
But obviously, the most important at home are my artists: JJonone, Philippe Pasqua, L’Atlas, Richard Orlinski, Robert Combas, Karel Appel (one of the painters that I discovered thanks to my father), Alexandre Nicolas, Ophélia Derely, Toma-L, Nicolas Dubreuille et Jean-Christophe Belaud.
I live with my works, I look at them, I even talk to them! And since I am loyal, I don’t often change them.
Art, an inherited passion
I was lucky to have a father who was unlike his whole generation. Alongside the family business he ran, he had a crazy passion for contemporary art.
This passion was the link between us. It was our world. And he was the one who taught me everything.
Since I was 12 he was taking me to see his favorite artists, Vasarely, Herbin, Appel, the sculptor Jean Roulland. He made me discover FIAC and Bâle at the age of 17. He was my initiator.
My father was a collector and he passed me down his virus!
I keep all my works. Unable to get rid of them.
An exclusive passion
It’s an exclusive and consuming passion. I’m never bored; I always have a gallery or an exhibition to see.
More my passion grew, more my eye became “educated”. I trained myself by going to gallery owners’ and artists’ meetings.
I have a real passion for the vanities. I was born with, since my father used to collect them. I don’t see anything morbid but on the contrary elements that face the death they represent, either in a poetical way like my Pasqua’s skull with its butterflies or in a humorous way like my Brice Mounier’s “punk” skull.
Death isn’t frightening for me and I like its representation… Maybe I should see a doctor, but for now I live in a perfect harmony with all that!
