INTERIOR

AT HOME WITH... ISABELLE OZIOL DE PIGNOL, ILLUSTRATOR

MENTON, MY TOWN

Younger I was living at Réunion and Mauritius Islands, than I moved to Paris.

I live in Menton since 1999. It was quite easy to leave Paris, even if I came back twice a month for work.

Here I found the provinces life, the light, the calm rhythm I knew when I was young.

MY FLAT

I wanted to live in a seafront old flat that I could renovate with my own tastes.

I spend my all days here. I work from my office or my kitchen. By the way it’s the room that I prefer, the one where we host, we chat, we spend so good moments.

WITH A MAGIC STICK

I’d like to have a dressing in my bedroom.

MY DECO STYLE

It has changed a lot. I had my phases. My approach about decoration had changed thanks to AD and Elle Decoration, it was my school!

Nowadays my style is eclectic, made by crush. I find a lot of furniture at antique dealers, others came from my family.

I like to think out of the box, we easily get bored by too fashion things. For this reason, I gave up on the Bouroullec ceiling lights. I prefer originals rather than re-editions, I like furniture with patina, items that tell stories.

MY INFLUENCES

I started from the « Riviera » style, the region inspires me and most of the items were found here (my addresses are to find below).

There is also a strong Italian influence, even if some Nordics items sidle in (as my lamp Verner Panton).

When I travel I go to antique dealers, actually more than at museums!

MY  READINGS

When I started to be interested in decoration and design I started to read designer’s biography.

Or else, I love deco press: I like Casa Vogue , AD ESpagne, Elle Décoration UK or Apartamento

ON MY WALLS

There are a lot of family portraits, festivals, exhibitions and galleries posters. I like typography and graphic works.

There also are paintings of my brother-in-law Paul de Pignolpainter and sculptor.

MY FAVORITE ITEMS

A wedding portrait, given by my friend Benoît Astier de Villatte.

And my Airborne chair this is the first designer furniture that I bought when I received my first salary. I will never trough it!

I am not particularly into « things », unless sentimental ones.

IN MY BOOKCASE

Books about art, fashion, society and politic.

I also have a lot of artist’s biographies.

ON MY BEDSIDE TABLE

My book « Comment en est–on arrivé là » by Michèle Cotta. And magazines.

ON MY WISHLIST

A magazine rack by Carl Auböck

A lamp of Sarfatti

A light of Lindsey Adelman

The Folding Chair of Takeshi Nii

A DECO FOCUS

Ceramics, I practise during 5 years – teapot, pot, cup – I sold them even in Japan!

There was a time I wanted to create a brand, but fashion caught me.

WHAT SIGN AN INTERIOR

Books. A real house must have a library!

OUR WEEK-ENDS

I work at home all the week so on week-ends I need fresh air. We have the chance to live in a region where local products are amazing, so on the week-ends we go to the market. Then we ride to Italy with our scooter, we drink a coffee. We take lunch there – in San Remo – make bric-a-brac shops and chill in antique dealers.

We host a lot. All our Parisian friends visits us regularly. On Saturday night we have dinner in Nice and then go for a drink in and British pub that I love.

When the sun is here we spend our Sundays on the beach.

The rest of my story is here
