BEING A PARENT

We had fertility treatment to conceive our children. I’ve always felt so lucky that I got to be a mum, particularly a twin mum. Being a parent is also more tiring and frustrating than anyone can ever tell you even if it remains a privilege.

THINGS I WANT TO PASS DOWN

I would like my children to be loving, caring, passionate and polite. I would also be thrilled if they are creative.

THINGS I HAVE LEARNT BY BECOMING A MOTHER

That you can’t always be in control!

Once my children were born I understand that you can’t always make everything go to plan, or to schedule. They have taught me to be a little more relaxed and yet equally they’ve made me more focused on the moment.

I am stricter with how I allocate my time and attention; I’ve found it easier to achieve the things I need to in each aspect of my life.

. I think I’m slowly realising that as a Mother you will always feel somewhat overwhelmed by the never diminishing ‘to do’ list.

MY ADVICES

I’m lucky in that I work for myself, so I can more easily organise my time and my day to suit the demands of my family.

It was the reason I left my career behind and started Edit58. I wanted to be more present for my growing children.

I try to take some time just for me: I always try and break for lunch and use this time to get out the house, if only for a coffee and to grab some food and fresh air.

I’m trying to get better at not working in the evenings/weekends, but it’s such a peaceful time that I often find it hard to resist logging on once dinner with my husband is over and we are sitting on the sofa. I get loads done! But it is my new focus to reduce how often I do this.

OUR HOLIDAYS

This year we spent two weeks in New York around Easter. In the Summer we have rented a beach house in Sicily. For us, holidays are mainly focused around good food, drink and friends. We know Sicily won’t disappoint!

NEXT ACTIVITIES

We are going on a long weekend to Rye/Camber sands with family. I can’t wait to indulge in fish and chips on the beach !
