IN A FEW WORDS
We have moved in here once the children had left home. And when I entered for the first time in the courtyard of the building that looks just like a house, I knew that it would be the place I want to live in.
Our apartment is on the top floor and I love its “attic” spirit with its “cathedral” ceiling, its beams and small windows with a view of the Seine.
In a decoration matter as in fashion, I don’t follow trends. Generally I like to mix Gustavian and Flemish style with few more contemporary objects. I could easily imagine myself living in Amsterdam or Stockholm. I love their talents to create warm atmospheres and the details importance.
The place I live in should always be cozy, with the “cocoon” spirit. That’s why the light is very important. I like lamps that aren’t those of designers but rather bought in flea markets in Paris or those from Lieux, really poetic ones that remind me the works of Lalanne.
Candles and smells are also as much important to me. Above all, I like those of Santa Maria Novella, discovered in Italie, that I regularly buy at Amin Kader. I love also their potpourris and Armenian paper.
For scented candles that’s obviously Dyptique (Feu de Bois and Oranger), I’m really addict for the moment to Cire Trudon and its mint candle Abd El Kader. I found a great website to order them: Delyss.
As one of my gratest passions is painting, that’s what I prefer to hang on my walls. I bought some paintings of my friend, Caroline Broncard, I also like watercolors like those of Venice – city that I have a weakness for – bought in Pippa bookshop next door.
I don’t like to follow trends in decoration, because I prefer my interiors being filled by objects and souvenirs. It has to be inhabited and alive!
More than big furnitures, I love small items – Baccarat hearts, the glass I bring from my trips to Holland or Italy, boxes full of letters and sweet words of my daughters, personal photos, my books, CDs or DVDs that have the greatest value to me. That’s what I really love here!
But, of course, I wouldn’t say no to LC4 Cassina lounge chair made of leather or a gorgeous table from Christian Liaigre…
