INTERIOR

AT HOME WITH... CECILE GUERRIER

My apartment

I have been there for a few years already and I immediately liked it with its patio that serves as workshop for me to paint, create, write.

I spend a lot of time here because I work here. That's where I write everything. I also make a lot of music improvisations with musicians-friends. Guitar and music are part of my passions.

My style

At home it must be practical and flexible so that I can arrange the space according to my paintings.

Most of the things I have are from recycling, objects or furniture that I have customized, repainted.

Impossible to imagine that it will be the same in 6 months: there must be transformation and change! That's why I paint all my furniture every summer.

 My Treasures

I like the "Totem" objects that remind me of my roots. They are objects that I received that have a real meaning. There is the idea of a place, a culture, a transmission behind each of them.

There are my two African masks.

My Haitian seashell. It belonged to my parents.

My walking stick that I brought back from the Sahara desert. We traveled 300 kilometers together.

Those are my points of reference.

On the walls

There are pictures, children's drawings, a reproduction, invitations ... in short, collages, a little bit of everything.

Everything but my paintings. I spend my life on it but no desire to see more of them on my walls!

Home fragrances

I have white sage, incense, candles. I am overly sensitive to odors.

At this moment I have Diptyque's Coing. Or the Trudon candles. I like the smell of wood and vegetation.

On my bookshelves

Novels (but no thrillers), literature, art books, photos. Scientific books too. My tastes and passions are very, very eclectic.

Memories from here

I spent nights awake with my paintings, moments of life with friends, parties.

What would I change if I could

More space. Art Nouveau furniture, a period that I adore with this mixture of culture and nature. And then-or above all-a Basquiat.

 My city

Paris is awesome culturally. And also the beauty of this city... I am constantly dazzled by its architecture. I often look up and enjoy everything that surrounds me. It is an inexhaustible subject of wonder.

At the same time, I need Paris as much as my Brittany and my nature. Paris is not enough for me. I need green space. Seeing a skyline, feeling the sea or land is vital.

 An ideal moment

The night when I create. No phone, no emails or couriers. I like to know that the city is asleep.
