AT HOME WITH... MARGOT MUSSAT

Our neighborhood

It’s funny because some time before moving, I accidentally discovered this beautiful place in this vibrant neighborhood. Few months later I have visited the apartment and have recognized the place that I had appreciated. We moved in 9 years ago.

I love the light and the fact that I can see the horizon. And also some “old” elements. But sometimes I still think of what I could change in here!

It’s a perfect place for a family with children: there is a square, neighbors, friends… it’s a real village.

My dream

I love my life in Paris, it’s related to my work but I would like to share my time between Paris and “elsewhere”. I want a garden, green, chorophyll, to get out of the city. To have more space for a workshop because I do a lot of things with my hands.

My style

Collector!

I love to associate, group objects that shouldn’t necessarily be together but that can tell a story.

Nothing is premeditated. I discover my work afterwards, I use a lot of intuition.

My objects and furniture follow me everywhere since always. Either they were offered as a gift or it’s the recycling craft. There is nothing new at home. Unfortunately all my family furniture remained in Argentina.

Buying or keeping things that I like is no longer enough: I only buy things that can offer me something, inspire me or remind me of a time in my life.

The objects I mostly care about

A little chair painted by my mom for my birth that is in my living room.

And also my ivory crocodile offered by Peter Beard to my dad on a trip to Africa to thank him. When he gave it to me, my father told me that the place where I’ll put it will be my home.

On the walls

Many drawings, prints, posters but also all kinds of objects, my compositions.

I also like collages, for example those of my ex-husband. His gallery is in my address book below.

A nice memory from here

Many dinners and parties. A dinner here is never less than 10 people, during a week or on weekends. I love to have guests, gather people.

And many parties too. Our neighbors are used to it and… invited!

On the bookshelves

Novels, art books (that I use for my moodboards for clients, so they become my work tools). Our children take them all the time.

My perfect moment

At 10 a.m., alone with a cup of Argentinian coffee!

Inspiration

Definitely not the decoration magazines: I never look at them!

Movies or series inspire me.

Just like for my closet, I need to have a very close relationship to everything around me.

This is what attaches me to the ground where I am…

Our weekends

On Saturday I’m alone with children because my husband is a doctor and he works. We cook, we walk, we go to see what happens at 104 next to our place. Then in the evening I have a dinner with friends.

And Sunday is all about family.
