AT HOME WITH... HÉLÈNE ALTMANN
Our home
We live in Marnes La Coquette for ten years. Before I used to live in Marais for a long time but I had dreamt of a garden. When we got children, it helped us to take a decision to leave.
After visiting 56 houses (!) we fell in love with this one: me for the garden, my husband for the architecture.
The garden is the thing I like the most here. I created it with a help of Camille Muller, a great landscape designer. I love ancient roses (I have 80 species) and I like anything linked to flowers, trees… I even have a vegetable garden and two chickens, Delphine and Marinette!
Decoration
I decided most of things for the decoration. I like to mix different things but with a lot of antiques. I love spending Sundays at flea markets.
But I am also a huge fan of contemporary brands and designers such as Philippe Hurel or India Mahdavi.
On the wall we have almost exclusively my stepfather’s works of art, Paul Altman. Or family photos.
My favorite moments
The books take a big part in my life. I can spend hours on my sofa, sitting next to the chimney and reading novels.
I also have my office where I spend a lot of time in the evenings or during the weekends. I love to look at the garden while working, it’s such a great feeling!
