CECILE ROEDERER, CHARLES' (6) MOTHER

My way of being mom

I am rather firm and cool at the same time to help my son to create his own personality.

I want him to feel free, that’s such an exciting program!

I am also a mom who wants him to have as much autonomy as I had being a child. But it’s also because I can see that my son is already very independent.

I think that being mom it’s also a journey into my own childhood with things I want to give them too and those I don’t want to…

The transmission

I would like to give him the essential bases and values: politeness, sense of effort, taking care of others… And in the same time let him have the possibility to express himself and not got limited.

I try to show him many possibilities, so that his horizon become as wide as possible.

But most of all I really want to help him not to be afraid and to have a confidence in life, in the future.

To help him to become confident and optimistic is the best gift I could ever give to him, right?

What makes me proud of him

His sense of humor.

And so much independence already! He wants to do everything by himself. He’s keen to participate in many things.

His activities

The Mini-Tigre Yoga Club for yoga and meditation classes together

« Rêver la terre » workshop to learn pottery and ceramics

The Museum d’Histoire Naturelle even more magical now since it was reconstructed

The Galerie des enfants at Centre Pompidou

The classes for children at musée du Quai Branly

Holidays dreams

Discovering new places in the country of course!

I would love to see the West Coast of the United States, from the Route One toward California through big parks. Or go to Australia too.

No-kids break allowed?

Very important, even for an evening or a weekend.

A real happiness: spending a morning alone with my husband. Because normally our son wakes up very very early! And enjoying Paris at our own pace.

Some tips in the organization matter?

A great nanny, available friends and a stepmother who can jump to a train at any time!

But also To-Do Family Lists, we share them with my husband viaWunderlist App.

Your little happiness?

Holding hand of my son.

Watching a film together, like E.T., My Neighbor Totoro or one of Charlie Chaplin movies.

Playing board games together… That’s always very funny!

Cooking together, one of those things we love to do both with my husband and we want to encourage Charles to.

A weekend at home

Even if my son wakes up early (7 a.m., even during the weekends), we like to take our time in the morning, to prepare a real breakfast.

Then we go to a market, we eat a lunch outside, and we walk a lot in Paris, with Charles going by bicycle or a little scooter. We become his “tourist guides”, explaining him monuments, he’s a real fan of history!

We also go to our Smallable shop, rue du Cherche Midi in the 6e.

On Sunday, we eat brunch with my sister and her children or with friends.
